Greens versus gold
So every one is selling some of the golds (depending on the weapon, sheild, bla...) at say 100k+ (again depending on the item) but when it comes to greens i got 6 given to me for free, deldimor stuff, zelous stuff and a couple others. what I am wondering is, is the value of green that of white?

Performance wise they're fine, but for most players that concern is well and truly behind them. People want prestige. Green weapons have none unless they're uber rare. Bad skins, meh mods, and common-ness (I'm sure there's an actual word for that) is what makes them generally worthless.

can't be modded either.. like let's say you wanted a vampiric flatbow 15>50 with a fortitude mod- I don't even think there is a green for that

Greens are, presumably, the rarest. However, since Greens mostly only drop from bosses, they aren't exactly as hard to come by than Golds.
Also, you can mod Golds and they give a better euphoric feeling when they drop.

without diving into a history lesson, when greens were first introduced, they were very highly sought after. This is because no weapons had inscriptions, and salvaging mods usually destroyed the item.
Fast forward to now, where many of the rarest skins are golds that only drop from difficult dungeon end chests (and very rarely at that), plus they are all inscribable and its easy to come across good mods to mod them with, and the tide has turned.
I like greens because, if they have decent mods, you put them on heroes and keep the nice salvaged mods for yourself. Then I love rare skinned, pretty golds to use for my chars.

greens are cheap and good for heroes when you dont want to go out and get some collector's items. As for myself, I'll use a green if it has the exact mods I want (not very common among greens) or if it has a nice, exclusive, skin like my ritualist's Alsin's Walking Stick.

GW economy is driven not by stats. This is not a grinding game. Max level equipment (e.g. green) is easy to obtain.
GW economy is driven by rarity of skins of weapons/armor. So of course gold is going to be worth far more than green.

Green will do fine for me or my heroes. Don't give a crap about the so called prestige when using a rare weapon.

Not being able to modify a green weapon is limiting. I prefer the golds.

Golds can be tailored to what you want. You can change mods and most can be dyed.
Greens can do nether of these (unless there are greens I don't know about that can be dyed.)

Greens were introduced as a "common-man's" alternative to the incredibly rare "perfect" golds. The original's greens were worth a significant amount, but that amount still paled in comparison to what a 20/20 r9 staff would have fetched (7k hours later and I still haven't seen one outside a collector). Inscriptions made it easier to mod the golds, bringing their rarity in line with a green, but the distiction still remains.

If its got the skin and stats I like then I really don't care if its gold, green purple blue or white.
However greens tend to have average or strange combinations of stats and average skins and since they can't be modified or dyed then they have generally low value.

best part about green weapons is they are really easy to justify getting them customized for bonus 20% damage. The funny part about high-end golds is that people rarely customize them because they want to be able to sell them again and make more money lol. I always laugh when I see high-end weapons on warriors/rangers and i know they aren't customized.

Even though they aren't worth much, I always get a little rush when I get a green drop for me (except Claws of Broodmother).

1. Some golds are rarer than greens. Certain skins only drop from dungeon end chests or mobs that are harder to farm than most bosses.
2. Most greens are undesirable as items. 90% of the greens have mods that I would never choose to put on an item myself. (Newsflash, people: +30hp is inferior to +5AL, and sundering is waaaay inferior to vampiric.) Of the few greens that have decent mods, the majority have ugly or common skins. I'd say there's fewer than a dozen greens with both optimal mods and a nice skin.

The one good thing about greens is sometimes they have mods/inscription combinations you cant duplicate.
Ex. Shen's Censure because it has 2 Inscriptions
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Shen%27s_Censure
Oh, and sorry if this was already mentioned.
But besides that, greens dont provide any other benefit compared to golds.

Green = common
Gold = Less common and flexible in mods (and inscriptions for Nightfall and Eye of the North)

It's always made me chuckle that green weapons are described as "unique" - considering they're the least unique thing in GW
